Does your business eat well and exercise regularly?

For reasons that are largely unavoidable (I have three kids aged five-and-under) and reasons that are easily avoidable (I stay up too late faffing around and looking at my phone), I’ve been a bit tired the last few months.

As a result, my business has been a bit tired, too.

See, when you’re an intrapreneur, you join a business. When you’re an entrepreneur, you create a business. When you’re a solopreneur: you are a business.

When you come to realise that you are your business, you can uncover some surprising but important truths about what makes your business function better.

Because if you are your business, then your business is never more confident than you are. It’s never more inspired than you are. It’s never more driven than you are.

If you are your business, and you’re tired, then your business is tired too.

This is why overworking yourself is even more stupid as a solopreneur than it is when you’re working for someone else (which, to be fair, is still pretty stupid).

Overworking yourself leads you to become tired, uninspired, demotivated, and disconnected.

Do you want your business to be tired, uninspired, demotivated, and disconnected?

Of course not!

If you want to treat your business right, you’ve gotta treat yourself right. Your business will never be better off than you in the long term, so you’ve gotta look after yourself.

(Mish and the kids are off at the in-laws house tonight, so I really must take the opportunity to have a really good sleep).
